What signs does the law require me to display on my premises?
Under the Licensing Act 1964 and EEC Units of Measurement Directive 89/67 you are currently legally required to display the following statutory signs and notices in plain view on your premises:-
- "Please leave quietly" signs (to be displayed by each exit)
- Sign advising increments that spirits are sold in (25/35ml)
- Sign advising increments that glasses of wine are sold in(125/175/250ml)
- "No proof of age/no alcohol"
- Drugs policy
- Fire exits must be clearly marked
- Smoking/No Smoking areas must be clearly defined
- Children/No Children areas must be clearly defined
- Copy of licence to be displayed within the pub
We can supply all of these statutory signs in a variety of finishes. We can also supply you with a bar cellar safety sign pack, containing 17 notices that comply with Health & Safety regulations.
Licensee Lathes are no longer a legal requirement, but we can still supply these. If in any doubt as to what notices you should have on display, contact your local Trading Standards Office, Area Manager, or Head Office.
